Hi,

I will visit Bali next week and staying in Sanur. I have heard so many nice things about Ubud. Can someone please let me know some interesting parts of Ubud. I have heard about Monkey Forest Road but do not know exactly what it is. Can anyone recommend any nice affordable spas that overlook the forest?

How far is Ubud from Sanur?

Any other places of interest, I may drive up the east coast of Bali.

Thanks!

Located on the bend at Jl. Raya Campuhan, Murni’s is a famous place. Multi-level design, serving Asian and western food, good desserts. Good for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Heading west along Jl. Raya Ubud, the road swings north at Campuhan and heads north towards Sanggingan. From Campuhan there is a turnoff heading west towards Penestenan and Sayan. All these areas have eating options and someone staying in downtown Ubud could access them easily either with their own transport or with a taxi.

Ubud is arguably the best place to use as a base if you're visiting Bali; if you're looking for culture, comfort, nature and inspiration. Ubud is surrounded by most of the things that bring people to Bali -- scenic rice fields, small villages, art and craft communities, ancient temples, palaces, rivers, cheap accommodation and unique luxury hotels. And it's central location makes it easy to get from Ubud to the mountains, beaches, and major towns.
